Parker CPI Union for Fractional Tube, 1/4 in. Tube OD x 1/4 in. Tube OD, Monel 400

Monel is the metal you specify when 316 stainless will not survive the service. The Parker 4-4 HBZ-M union joins two 1/4 in. tube runs in Monel 400 forgings and Monel 405 bar stock, the nickel-copper alloy called out for seawater, hydrofluoric acid and brine service.

Monel resists the chloride stress corrosion cracking that attacks austenitic stainless in hot salt environments, which is exactly why offshore platforms and HF alkylation units name it on the drawing. Swapping in a stainless fitting because it looked close on the shelf is how a line fails early.
